American Citrus Experts Visiting CRI

From Feb. 10^th to 12^th, 2010, Prof. XIA Yulu, from University of North Carolina, Prof. Philip A. Stansly, from University of Florida, and Mr. Yu Takeuchi, from United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), visited CRI. Prof. XIA Yulu and Prof. Stansly delivered speeches with the titles of Research on Citrus Huanglongbing and Diaphorina citri Kuwayama as well as Monitering of Citrus Pests and Natural Enemies respectively. The experts also had in-depth discussion with the audience about the proper season to apply pesticide to control Diaphorina citri Kuwayama and the factors affecting the spread of citrus huanglongbing.

During their stay in Chongqing, the experts also paid a visit to the Paisenbai Orange Juice Corporation located in Zhong Xian, a town in the central Chongqing. They were shown around the company’s processing plant and nursery. The American experts also inquired about the problems of the pests and diseases in the local orchards.
